1. President Donald Trump is facing criticism after referring to Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D) as “Pocahontas” during an event honoring the Native American code talkers of World War II. “And I just want to thank you because you’re very, very special people,” Trump told the Navajo code talkers being honored. “You were here long before any of us were here, although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago, they call her Pocahontas. But you know what? I like you.” According to Raw Story, Trump dubbed Warren “Pocahontas” because she has previously claimed to have Native American heritage. For her part, Warren tells MSNBC, “It is deeply unfortunate that the president of the United States cannot even make it through a ceremony honoring these heroes without having to throw out a racial slur.” (Rawstory)
2. A man was shot in both arms in a weekend hunting incident that happened about a mile behind the Oxford Plains Speedway. The victim is 32-year-old James Footman from Paris. Footman was taken by life-flight to Central Maine Medical Center after a bullet struck both his arms. The hospital says Footman is now in serious condition. (WGME)
3. A man accused of running a major welfare scam out of a Portland halal grocery is pleading guilty to several charges of federal food stamp and other welfare fraud. Ali Ratib Daham is also pleading to money laundering and theft from the state’s MaineCare program. In entering the plea, Daham is agreeing to a jail sentence of at least 33 months and to pay more than $1.4 million in restitution to the government. (BDN)
4. During a BBC interview that aired Monday night, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed that he proposed to her at his Kensington Palace home earlier this month. Harry also shared that he thinks his late mother Princess Diana would’ve loved his fiancée. The two plan to wed this spring. This is Harry’s first marriage and Markle’s second. (USMAG)

Defined as “choosing to be involved in an illegal or questionable act, especially with others,” the term achieved its first search spike on the site after a March 12 Saturday Night Live skit starring Scarlett Johansson as Ivanka Trump.
