1. COVID-19 hospitalizations spiked Monday in Maine. Maine reported 223 patients hospitalized with COVID-19. Hospitalizations peaked at 235 patients on Sept. 25.
2. Governor Janet Mills is rolling out a plan to entice more people to work in health care in Maine. The programs include scholarships and student loan relief, with the goal of hiring more doctors and nurses.
3. The Portland school worker charged with multiple sex crimes is now facing federal charges. Benjamin Conroy was charged with two felonies related to child pornography with a possible penalty of up to 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
4. The Portland superintendent sent out a letter to let families know that because of a shortage of school bus drivers they may have to cancel one or more of their bus runs for elementary and middle school students. Similar situations have been reported in Scarborough, Westbrook and other districts.
