1. There’s been no sign of a Freeport teenager that has been missing since Thursday. Police and volunteers continued to search Monday for Theo Ferrara. Theo was last seen walking toward Brunswick by a passing driver.
2. The Westbrook man accused of shooting two people in Portland’s Old Port this month was out on bail for drug crimes at the time. Tyreese Vargas, 19, was facing nine charges in separate drug-related cases. Witnesses told police Vargas was involved in an argument inside The Drink Exchange before he allegedly shot two people on Wharf Street after the bar closed.
3. Maine Democrats are blasting former Governor Paul LePage after a New York Times report found he benefited from property tax breaks in Florida meant for full-time residents. Democratic leaders are saying he previously tried to cut the same program in Maine.
4. New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is dealing with what doctors have diagnosed as a severe high ankle sprain that would cause many to have surgery. Jones is likely to miss multiple games. He and the Patriots still are discussing his options and the best way to proceed.
5. A NASA spacecraft has intentionally slammed into an asteroid. The DART mission, or the Double Asteroid Redirection Test, launched 10 months ago. While the asteroid, Dimorphos, was not at risk of impacting Earth, this demonstration could determine how to deflect space rocks that could pose a threat to Earth in the future.
