2. A 15-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl were killed on Tuesday and at least 18 others injured when a fellow student opened fire at Marshall County High School in Benton, Kentucky. The 15-year-old suspect has reportedly been taken into custody and will be charged with murder and attempted murder. The victims ranged from 14 to 18 years old. This marks the first fatal school shooting of 2018 in the U.S. (CBS News)

The governor of Hawaii admitted on Monday that the reason it took him so long to inform the public about a missile alert false alarm this month was because he forgot his Twitter password. “I have to confess that I didn’t know my Twitter account log-ons and the passwords, so certainly that’s one of the changes that I’ve made,” David Ige told The Honolulu Star-Advertiser after giving his annual State of the State address. “I’ve been putting that on my phone so that we can access the social media directly.” On January 13, the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency accidentally sent out an alert to all residents’ cellphones, warning them of an incoming ballistic missile attack. 4. Portland’s Planning Board gave final approval Tuesday to plans for a proposed 400-seat performance hall on Munjoy Hill. The board held a public hearing before voting 7-0 late Tuesday to approve the site plan for the St. Lawrence Arts Center at 66 Congress Street. The project plan approved Tuesday night includes a 401-seat theater, a lobby, promenade room and basement located inside a 6,715-square-foot contemporary addition to the 19th century Gothic-style church. Two round-trip plane tickets from Portland to Minneapolis can cost up to $2,000 per ticket for the weekend from Friday to Monday. Hotels in the greater Minneapolis area are mostly sold out.
