1. President Trump will be ineligible for California’s primary ballot next year unless he discloses his tax returns under a state law that took effect immediately Tuesday. The law, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on the final day he could take action, requires all presidential candidates to submit five years of income tax filings. 2. Another data breach. The latest attack on Capital One successfully targeted one of the top ten largest banks in the United States and exposed the personal data of more than 100 million customers. The largest category of information stolen from the bank was personal information submitted by individuals and small businesses applying for credit cards. Capital One reported that about 140,000 Social Security numbers and 80,000 bank account numbers were stolen. The FBI arrested Paige A. Thompson, a 33-year old former Amazon employee for the hack. 3. Establishing passenger rail service between Portland and Westbrook could reduce traffic congestion and move people faster than buses can, but doing so would not be cheap. The Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority concluded that the proposed rail service would have an estimated cost that could exceed $100 million. (Portland Press Herald)
