1. The U.S. nears 3 million coronavirus cases with over 131,000 deaths. The Maine CDC on Tuesday reported 17 new cases and one new death. Statewide 110 people have died. As of Tuesday 514 cases are active in Maine. (WMTW)
2. The Lewiston City Council unanimously voted to pass a resolution to provide body cameras for its police department. Now, city leaders will start to research body cameras and how to purchase the tools for all officers. (NEWS CENTER)
3. ESPN’s E60 “The Hero Of Goodall Park” aired yesterday. The doc focuses on the night a driver crashed through the gate at Goodall Park in Sanford and killed a 68-year-old, Douglas Parkhust. He was killed trying to protect children on the field. Parkhurst was initially celebrated as a hero, but what wasn’t known at the time was that 50 years ago, he hit and killed a 4-year-old girl in a hit-and-run in New York. (WMTW)
4. After a four month shutdown, Maine movie theaters will finally start opening. Smitty’s Cinemas in Windham, Topsham and Sanford plan to open July 17. Cinemagic, which has theaters in Saco, South Portland and Westbrook, is planning to start reopening theaters on July 24. Hollywood Casino in Bangor is reopening Friday at noon. The Oxford Casino has not yet released its reopening plans. (PRESS HERALD)
5. Urban Air Adventure Park’s second Maine location will open to the public Saturday at the Airport Mall in Bangor. The park offers a ropes course, trampolines, climbing walls, a tube playground and a Sky Rider high-jump attraction. The facility will reportedly undergo deep cleaning every hour. (WGME)
