2. It’s LGBT pride month, but three guys in Boston want a permit for a ‘Straight Pride’ parade. Organizers of the Straight Pride Parade tentatively plan to host the event Aug. 31 and have filed a discrimination complaint against Boston for permission to fly their straight pride flag. News of the Straight Pride Parade took off on social media, with hundreds of people cracking jokes about the event and others calling it “sad.” One person tweeted “The Straight Pride Parade is every weekend when you see four dudes in polos walking back to their campus at 2 a.m. looking very bummed that they didn’t get laid.” (Washington Post)

In order to determine the safest states in America, WalletHub compared the 50 states across 52 key safety indicators ranging from assaults per capita to unemployment rate to total loss amounts from climate disasters per capita.
