1. Rep. Bruce Poliquin said Tuesday his request for a recount in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District race is “about making sure that the system works” following a historic ranked-choice election he portrayed as “chaotic” and confusing for voters.Though clerks in several of the district’s municipalities, large and small – including Lewiston, Fort Kent, Bangor and Presque Isle – said there were long lines, none of them described chaotic scenes at their polling places on Election Day when contacted Tuesday. (Press Herald)

2. The Portland city planning board unanimously approved out a new marijuana zoning map Tuesday. The proposal, which now goes to the City Council for consideration, would treat adult-use and medical marijuana businesses the same, allowing recreational businesses into the same zones where Portland decided to allow medical dispensaries and grows back in 2010. (Press Herald)

3. The first commercial pot shops in Massachusetts sold more than $2.2 million worth of marijuana products during the first five days they were open for business. The stores in Northampton and Leicester began operations on Nov. 20 and combined sold $440,000 worth of cannabis that day. The busiest day was Friday after Thanksgiving when the stores reported nearly $480,000 in gross sales. (NewsCenterMaine)

4. Is Three Dollar Deweys, the pub that was a fixture in Portland’s Old Port for nearly 40 years before closing in late July, about to be resurrected? New signs posted in the windows of Deweys’ former home at 241 Commercial St. say “Returning Soon $3 Deweys” and “Under New Ownership and Management.” But who, exactly, may be bringing the place back to life is a mystery. Three Dollar Deweys’ state and local liquor licenses expired Aug. 1, and there are no pending applications for that location, according to the city’s licensing and registration coordinator. (Press Herald)

5. Cyber Monday 2018 was the best online shopping day in U.S. history, with consumers spending $7.9 billion. A large part of the online buying came from Amazon, where consumers worldwide purchased 18 million toys and more than 13 million fashion items on Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined. Physical stores also saw a 28 percent increase in online sales. (UPI)
