2. The Portland School Board approved new policy guidelines for its transgender students Tuesday night. Students will be able to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with. If they do not feel comfortable, there will also be a single stall available, school officials said. The policy also includes calling a student by his or her preferred pronoun and name. (WMTW)
3. Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James was ejected from a game for the first time in his 15-year NBA career during a match-up with the Miami Heat on Tuesday night. 4. Online shoppers have set a new record by spending $6.59 billion on Cyber Monday alone this year, with $2 billion of that coming from shoppers making purchases on smartphones. The National Retail Federation estimated Tuesday that more than 174 million Americans shopped in stores and online from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday — a 17 percent increase from 2016. 5. The U.S. is suffering a Christmas tree shortage that’s driving tree prices up 5 to 10 percent, according to the National Christmas Tree Association. t goes back to the recession starting in 2008. As the economy tanked, so did Christmas tree sales. Growers didn’t need to cut down as many trees as they normally would, and that left less room in the groves to plant seedlings. Since a Christmas tree takes about a decade to hit a height of seven to eight feet, growers now don’t have as many to cut and ship around the country as they have in past years. (USA Today)
