1. South Portland police said a juvenile male was shot at about 8:40 Tuesday night in the upper parking lot at South Portland High School. The boy was shot in the leg and was taken to Maine Medical Center to be treated. The injuries appear to be non-life-threatening. They stressed there was no evidence to suggest the shooting was school-related, other than the fact that it took place on school grounds. (WMTW)
2. State health officials on Tuesday reported 1,008 new cases of COVID-19 over a three-day period along with nine additional deaths from the viral disease. This includes cases reported to the Maine CDC as far back as Sept. 17 because the agency has struggled to keep pace with the surge in test results requiring review. (PRESS HERALD)
