1. Colin Kroll, the co-creator of Vine and HQ Trivia, has died of a suspected drug overdose in New York City, according to published reports. A representative for the New York City Police Department told CNBC that a 35-year-old male was discovered in his Lower Manhattan apartment shortly after midnight. Authorities declined to name him publicly pending family notification, however the company confirmed Kroll died. (CNBC)

3. Text to 911 is now available across Maine, the Maine Public Utilities Commission announced Friday. The service allows a person to send a short text message to a 911 answering point. The PUC said texting 911 should only be used when a voice call cannot be made. (WMTW)
