This was probably only a matter of time, but I still hate to see it. Amazon Prime Video announced they will start showing ads during movies and shows starting January 29th. Users will have to pay an additional $2.99 per month for the ad-free option.
Currently, Amazon Prime costs $14.99 monthly or $139 annually. Prime Video can be subscribed to individually for $8.99 monthly. The new charge for ad-free streaming would bring Prime to just under $18, and would push standalone Prime Video to just under $12.
Are you going to accept the ads or upgrade? In this economy, I think I’ll settle for an ad or two!
