Ed Sheeran has successfully beat a second lawsuit regarding his song “Thinking Out Loud.” Sheeran has been sued for copyright infringement twice because of this nearly 10 year old hit. The plaintiffs, Structured Assets Sales LLC, argued “Thinking Out Loud” was too similar to Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On.” The plaintiffs own a portion of Gaye’s copyright and they believed they also deserved a share of “Thinking Out Loud”. This second case was dismissed by the judge yesterday before it got to trial. Despite this victory, Sheeran is not out of the woods yet. Structured Assets Sales plans on filing a third copyright infringement suit.
