Kanye West was in talks to headline Coachella 2019, but Kanye being Kanye, he dropped out due to stage design. Kanye made it clear to festival organizers Goldenvoice that he wouldn’t perform on a traditional 60 by 40 foot stage because it was “artistically limiting.”
Goldenvoice, however, would not allow the stage to be altered or removed for Ye’s performance, so he passed. It was confirmed yesterday that Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Ariana Grande will headline both weekends of the festival in April.
