After weeks of speculation about where the four-time NBA champion would land, LeBron revealed that his decision wasn’t about money or convenience – it was about giving himself one more opportunity to compete for another championship.”I’m not going for money. I’m not going for family. I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning another championship,” James said.
The 41 year old reportedly agreed to a two-year contract worth $8 million with a player option, taking a significant pay cut after spending the last eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers.
In Philadelphia, James joins an already talented roster featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and recently acquired Jaylen Brown, instantly making the Sixers one of the most talked-about contenders heading into the new season. The move has already boosted Philadelphia’s championship expectations!
LeBron also admitted he seriously considered retiring after the Lakers’ playoff run came to an end, saying there was a point where he believed he had played his final NBA game. Ultimately, his love for the game, and the chance to chase one more title, brought him back.
