If you’re like me and find yourself hoarding reusable bags, this ban won’t cramp your style. However, it may inconvenience a few shoppers.
Starting July 1st, Maine will eliminate single use plastic bags. Instead, recycled paper bags will be introduced. Retail establishments will be required to charge 5 cents per paper bag, or provide a 5 cent reusable bag to customers.
Of course, if you bring your own bags–it’s free! Just don’t forget to grab them before you head to the grocery store. Or even better, keep a stash in your car.
