Chris Rock says the Motion Picture Academy asked him to host the 2023 Oscars. The request comes after the infamous Will Smith slap at this year’s Academy Awards. Rock brought up the request during a comedy show in Phoenix last weekend. Rock compared being asked to host the Oscars to returning to the scene of a crime. Rock referenced Smith’s role as Muhammad Ali saying, “He’s bigger than me. The state of Nevada would not sanction a fight between me and Will Smith.” Rock hosted the Oscars in 2005 and 2016. The Motion Picture Academy has not responded to Rock’s claim.
