Dave Chappelle was attacked while onstage at the Hollywood Bowl Tuesday night while performing a set for the Netflix Is A Joke comedy festival. A man climbed onto the front of the stage, rushed at Chappelle and tackled him hard onto the ground. An eyewitness told TMZ that a swarm of angry people caught up to the guy as he tried running away and “beat the crap out of” the attacker, with Jamie Foxx and Busta Rhymes allegedly “getting a few licks in.” The attacker was taken to the hospital. The LAPD said the man had a replica gun with him that could eject a knife blade. It’s unclear if the man intended to use the weapon. Chris Rock came on stage after Chappelle finished his set, hugged the comedian, and then asked the crowd “Was that Will Smith?”
