[AP IMAGES]Some sad truth being thrown at us today, as we learned that Dave Mirra had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE. This is the same brain disease that has been found in so many football and hockey players. Mirra, a BMX legend and idol, sadly took his own life on February 4th of this year.
Without a doubt, research is being conducted outside of the NFL and NHL, but this could open up a whole new can of worms for sports across the world. And that might be a good thing.
