It’s 2018 and we’re still hearing that Dr. Dre’s unfinished, long awaited album Detox might possibly see the light of day. Detox was first mentioned back in 2003 and was slated for a fourth quarter 2004 release. It was delayed and thus began 10+ years of Detox teases and rumors. They seemed to die out w/ the release of Dre’s third studio album, Compton, in 2015.
On Tuesday Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine attended Warriors practice. NBA reporter Chris Haynes asked Dre if Detox was permanently shelved. He responded, “I’m working on a couple songs right now. We’ll see.”
Sooooo you’re saying there’s a chance… I won’t be holding my breathe but after watching HBO’s Defiant Ones and hearing Snoop and Eminem discuss Detox like it was the Holy Grail, I can’t help but get a little excited.
