Finally, Kanye West has released his new studio album Donda! His long-awaited 10th studio album hit streaming services on Sunday morning. There’s a heavy religious vibe on the album and tons of appearances, from JAY-Z, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, the Lox, Young Thug, Pop Smoke, and more. Donda also credits Marilyn Manson, who controversially appeared at the third listening event on the song, “Jail.”
Donda was released on Sunday – Yay! Kanye says it wasn’t approved – Boo? On his Instagram, Kanye wrote, “Universal put my album out without my approval, and they blocked Jail 2 from being on the album.” Jail 2 is the version of the song featuring DaBaby that we heard on Thursday night. The first Jail includes Jay-Z. There was drama over the weekend about whether DaBaby had given his final clearance to be on the project. By noon on Sunday, Jail 2 was available everywhere you could get Donda. We don’t know if there was anything else Kanye had beef with Universal about.
The release of Kanye West’s DONDA album is surrounded in controversy. Soulja Boy has added a bit of extraness to the situation. Draco says ‘Ye left him off of the album. Soulja provided text receipts on Twitter that show Kanye showing him love, wanting to collaborate on music and fashion, and asking for a verse, most likely on the song, Remote Control. Young Thug wound up on the album version of the song. Soulja tweeted the texts with the caption, “Kanye smh. Tell homie dont hit my phone no more.”
