On Tuesday morning the Maine DOT twitter account shared a story of a man named Sigbjørn who had found a hard hat with the Maine DOT logo on it. Sigbjørn was on a walk when he came upon the helmet in a fjord which is essentially what we call in Maine an inlet along the coast. The DOT stated that the helmet was found around 3,300 miles away from the DOT headquarters in Augusta. A Twitter user in the replies pointed out that this would line up with the ocean currents from Maine to Norway and could explain how the helmet ended up there. So if you’re reading this article and are missing your hard hat Sigbjørn in Norway has it!
