For all Gossip Girl fans, this is news we have been waiting to hear since the show ended in 2012. HBO Max, the streaming destination from WarnerMedia, that is unfortunately taking Friends from Netflix, will be the home of the Gossip Girl reboot!
Currently, the show has a 10-episode order and will follow a new group of Manhattan’s elite rich kids. The series will pick up eight years after the original Gossip Girl site went dark. The series will look to “address just how much social media – and the landscape of New York itself – has changed in the intervening years.”
The original series creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage and original executive producer Joshua Safran are on board to work with the show. Does that mean they will bring back our favorite characters Blair, Serena, Chuck, Nate, and Dan? There’s no word yet on whether any of the original cast will be involved. Based on the feedback on Twitter, most people seem upset by the idea that the original cast may not be in it:

The negative feedback should be enough for the creators to bring them back. Hopefully we will start hearing some news from Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, or some of the other stars of the show saying that they will be in this new reboot! It’s been a long seven years without this elite group being in our lives, but it sounds like they will be returning soon.
