Earlier this morning (March 21st) Wyclef Jean was handcuffed and detained by police because they thought he was a suspect in a robbery. Deputies apparently mistook Jean for the real suspect because he just about matched the description off the robber, and the robbery took place near the studio in which Wyclef Jean had been working. After LAPD figured out they had the wrong suspect, they released Jean. In the meantime, the real suspect was found and arrested.
Wyclef Jean took to social media this morning talking about what went down.
LAPD another case of mistaken identity. Black man with red bandana robbed a gas station as I was in the studio working but im in handcuffs? pic.twitter.com/vjRfJUkooA

I was asked by the police to Put my hands up. Then I was told do not move. I was instantly hand cuffed before being asked to identify myself

Nor was I told why I was being cuffed. In the process I said my name and told them they have wrong person.

As some one who has law enforcers in my family, I was appalled by this behavior of the LAPD.
