1. President Obama urges Russia to make a ‘strategic adjustment’ in fighting ISIS. Sunday at the East Asia Summit in Malaysia, Obama called on Russia to stop supporting Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, saying the violence in Syria will continue as long as Assad remains in power.

2. A pair of bills that fight childhood hunger in Maine has moved forward. One of these bills proposes to give schools tools to make sure qualified students receive free meals.

3. Big congrats to Thornton Academy for winning the Class A football title — The Trojans scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to beat Portland, 24-14 and repeat as state champs!

4. Southern Maine is seeing its first snow of the season Monday morning, and snow is in the forecast for sections of northern and eastern Maine, according to the National Weather Service. At 12:03 a.m. Monday, the weather service tweeted that the precipitation had officially turned to snow at the Gray office.

5. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 brought in $20 million less than Part 1 last year, but still managed to claim the #1 spot by opening with $101 million. In doing so, the film became the fifth please in 2015 to open above the $100 million-mark. Meanwhile, the latest James Bond film Spectre held second place by earning $14.6 million. And The Peanuts Movie landed in the #3 spot with $12.8 million. Holiday comedy The Night Beforedebuted in fourth place with $10 million. And The Secret in Their Eyes rounded out the top five with $6.63 million.
