1. Bad news for (diet) soda drinkers. A new Swedish study says that consuming more than 6.7 ounces or two 200 milliliter diet soda drinks a day can raise the risk of heart failure by 23 percent, the study argued. The study followed 42,400 men over 12 years. Keep in mind, just one can of soda is 12 ounces!

2. Some sad news coming out of Oakland. 4 were killed in a shooting on Belgrade Road Wednesday night, including the gunman. Police are unsure of any motives behind the shoots. Thoughts and prayers going out to the friends and families of the victims.

3. Tom Brady has piled up plenty of stats this season, and he added another weekly honor for his latest brilliant game. The Patriots quarterback was named AFC offensive player of the week, after his four-touchdown performance against the Dolphins last week.

4. Though the $15/hour minimum wage did not pass in Portland, there is a different proposal to raise Maine’s minimum wage statewide. The group “Mainers For Fair Wages” has collected more than 90,000 signatures, which is well over the minimum requirement to get the issue on  the ballot. The proposal for the statewide ballot would raise Maine’s minimum wage to $9 an hour in 2017, then by $1 a year until it reaches $12 in 2020.  After that, it’d increase at the rate as the cost of living.

5. Everybody has their deal breakers right? A new study has found that the #1 deal breaker for men and women: Being disheveled. “Laziness” and being “too needy” come in a close second and third.
