Rapper DMX was sentenced to six months in jail last night in connection with his June arrest for failing to pay child support. Billboard reports that recording artist Shaggy broke the news via a tweet on Tuesday in which he explained that DMX wouldn’t be performing at this year’s Shaggfest, which is scheduled for July 25. A spokesperson from the New York City Sheriff’s Department told WPIX-TV at the time of DMX’s arrest that he owed $400,000 worth of child support and faced a warrant issued by the city of White Plains for bail jumping. He also had a robbery complaint out of Newark, New Jersey, but no charges were filed.
