Team LeBron James dominated the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday night. LeBron’s squad topped Team Kevin Durant 170-150. Giannis Antetokounmpo was named MVP. He was the first player in All-Star Game history to shoot 100 percent on more than 10 shots. Giannis was 16 for 16, scoring 35 points. Before the game, Philadelphia 76ers stars Joel Embiid, and Ben Simmons were ruled out because of COVID protocols. They both came in contact with a barber who tested positive for COVID. Anfernee Simons from the Portland Trailblazers won the Slam Dunk Contest. Stephen Curry cooked up a win in the 3 Point Contest. Sabonis picked up the win in the Skills Challenge.

Even though NBA All-Star weekend in Atlanta isn’t as big of a party as normal due to COVID, that didn’t stop promoters from trying to make it that way. The NBA had to issue over 200 cease and desist letters to party organizers who used league logos and event names to promote events over the weekend. All of those events were unsanctioned by the league. Commissioner Adam Silver said last week, “The message within the NBA community is that we’re going to be operating in a mini-bubble. There will be no NBA functions [for fans] to participate in.” The cease and desist notices didn’t stop gatherings from happening. It was more of a legal move by the league.
