1. Henry Kissinger, the secretary of state who dominated foreign policy under Nixon and Ford, died at 100 on Wednesday. Kissinger fled Nazi Germany with his family in his teens. He was active through his 90s, just last year he was traveling doing press for his book on leadership. (PH)
2. People who were hurt in the Lewiston shootings in October, as well as family members of the 18 people killed, will be able to attend the University of Maine System for free. UMS decided to develop the waiver after Mills asked the System to establish a scholarship fund for those directly impacted by the October tragedy. The System decided to waive tuition altogether and create a fund to accept donations toward the non-tuition college costs of those affected by the mass shooting. (WMTW)
3. Check your email. The Biden Administration has started emailing 813,000 borrowers to let them know their student loan debt is completely forgiven.This adjustment comes as many borrowers who repaid their loans on an income-driven plan didn’t receive proper credit towards their loans. (BI)
