1. A Maine woman is facing a long list of charges after police say she slammed into multiple cruisers while trying to flee a traffic stop in South Portland. Officers say 47-year-old Celena Smith was driving erratically near Maine Mall Road before taking off, hitting two cruisers — including one head-on — before being boxed in and arrested. 2. Two teens are under arrest in southern Maine after police say they targeted multiple businesses, including cannabis shops and firearms dealers. Investigators say the 16- and 17-year-olds tried to break into gun stores before successfully stealing items from a cannabis shop in Turner using a stolen vehicle. They’re now being held at Long Creek as the investigation continues. (WGME)
3. A scare at a Goodwill in Ellsworth Tuesday morning — staff called police after finding what looked like a hand grenade in a donation pile. The building was evacuated. Officials later confirmed it was just an empty grenade shell with no explosive inside. It’s the third time in recent years a grenade has turned up at a Maine Goodwill. (BDN)
4. The Maine Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2026 class, led by longtime baseball coach Brian Butterfield, a 37-year pro coach and World Series champ with the Red Sox, and Mike McDevitt, who racked up 667 wins coaching at St. Joseph’s College and the University of Southern Maine without a single losing season. They’ll be inducted September 27th at Hannaford Hall at USM, honoring some of Maine’s top athletes and coaches. (BDN)
