1. Two men were killed by falling trees Monday afternoon as a storm ripped through the state and knocked out power to more than 400,000. CMP says some customers could be without power for days. (PH)
2. Gas prices continue to plummet in the U.S. just in time for a busy two weeks of travel. GasBuddy.com has the current average cost for a gallon of regular gas at $3.03. Maine’s average is $3.23. The downward trend has been going on since October. (Yahoo)

Southwest Airlines has agreed to pay $140 million after being sued by the Department of Transportation for the December 2022 meltdown that canceled around 17,000 flights and stranded more than 2 million people. Most of the money will compensate travelers. This is the largest fine imposed on an airline for violating consumer protection laws. (NPR)
4. Booked holiday travel through the Portland International Jetport is up more than 6% compared to last year. Wednesday is expected to be the busiest day of the two-week period, in part because more people are able to work remotely, so they’re leaving earlier for holiday destinations. (PH)
5. Tinder has officially launched their $499/month “Tinder Select” subscription plan. Tinder states that it extends the plan to less than 1 percent of users deemed “highly active,” with applications gradually becoming available over time. (WS)
