1. The fourth Republican presidential primary debate was held last night in Alabama. Four candidates—Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy—participated. Former Reality TV Show Host Donald Trump, the presumptive nominee with about 60% support, chose not to attend any of the four debates. (WMTW)
2. One of the last two remaining patients from the Oct. 25 mass shooting in Lewiston was discharged from Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston on Wednesday. Kyle Secor posted a thank you on his Facebook page to the hospital staff and community for their care and support. He also posted the video of himself being wheeled out of CMMC in a wheelchair as dozens of onlookers applauded, shook his hand and took his photograph. (PH)
3. Gov. Janet Mills made a special appearance at the Bangor Public Library Wednesday to announce the statewide expansion of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. Parton herself sent a pre-recorded personalized message, saying “I am so happy to announce that Maine will soon offer my Imagination Library to every child in the state from birth to age five!” Parton signed off her message to Maine with, “Happy reading Maine, and remember that I will always love you!” (WMTW)
4. The Maine Celtics will host “Lewiston Strong Night” on Saturday, Dec. 16. The Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation will donate $50,000 to the LA Metro Chamber Foundation. The Maine Celtics will wear special Lewiston uniforms featuring the Lewiston High School colors and 04240 Lewiston zip code. Survivors and members of the community who are helping uplift the area will also be recognized during the game. (WMTW)
