1. A memorial service for fallen Searsmont Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Woodbury will be held today at 1 p.m. at Belfast Area High School. Woodbury died from injuries suffered in last month’s Robbins Lumber explosion, becoming the second firefighter killed in the tragedy. Fire officials from across Maine are expected to attend the service honoring the 76-year-old veteran firefighter. (WMTW)
2. The 4-year-old girl who nearly drowned at a Kennebunk hotel pool over the weekend remains in critical condition and has been transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital. Fire officials say the child was found in cardiac arrest at the Hampton Inn on Saturday and was revived by first responders before being rushed to the hospital. (WMTW)
3. A women’s sports bar is taking over Noble Pizzeria & Barbecue’s space on Stevens Avenue in Portland. The new venue, called The Sports Bra Maine, will exclusively feature women’s sports and is expected to open later this year after Noble closes on July 12. Owners say the bar will continue serving Noble-style pizza while showcasing leagues like the WNBA, PWHL and local Maine women’s teams. (PH)
4. The Washington Wizards selected AJ Dybantsa (from Brockton, MA) with the first overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Darryn Peterson went second to the Utah Jazz, and Cameron Boozer was taken third by the Memphis Grizzlies. 5. Starbucks is bringing back its popular pink Bearista cup this summer. The limited-edition tumbler, featuring a bear design and strawberry topper, arrives at select stores on July 13, with early access for Rewards Reserve members starting July 9.
