1. Two juveniles are facing charges after a reckless driving complaint in Sebago led deputies to a much bigger discovery. Investigators say the teens were driving a vehicle through a field and performing burnouts before being stopped, and later learned they had allegedly fired a 9-millimeter handgun into an occupied home, shattering a living room window. No one was hurt, and authorities say there appears to be no connection between the teens and the residents. Investigators are now looking into whether the suspects may be connected to other incidents in the area. (NCM)
2. A new poll shows Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner still leading Republican Senator Susan Collins, but by a much smaller margin. The Public Policy Polling survey, conducted after reports about Platner’s sexting controversy surfaced, has him ahead 49% to 45%, a lead that falls just outside the poll’s 3% margin of error. (WGME)
3. Portland’s plan for a women’s Hearts of Pine soccer team moved one step closer to reality this week. A city committee approved an updated stadium agreement that would allow the new team to play up to eight games at Fitzpatrick Stadium beginning in 2027, with the proposal now headed to the full City Council for a vote later this month. 4. Maine continues to be one of the top disc golf destinations in the country. According to the UDisc app, Mainers play more rounds of disc golf per capita than anywhere else in the world. The state now has more than 100 courses, including several nationally ranked layouts in Sabattus, while Portland’s new Payson Park course is helping introduce even more people to the fast-growing sport. The coffee chain has teamed up with Mattel to launch a new lineup featuring the Pink Pineapple Refresher and colorful Barbie-inspired Daydream Refreshers topped with pink strawberry cold foam. The promotion also includes new menu items like a Rocket Pop donut, Golden BBQ hash brown wraps and loaded hash browns, plus a special $6 meal deal with coffee and two Wake-Up Wraps.
