1. Maine voters head to the polls tomorrow for primary election day, with races for U.S. Senate, governor, Congress, the Legislature and local offices all on the ballot. More than 56,000 absentee ballots had already been returned as of Thursday. Polls close at 8 p.m., and while first-round results will be available Tuesday night, any ranked-choice runoffs could take several more days to determine. (PH)
2. More than 1,300 athletes from across Maine gathered in Orono this weekend for the Special Olympics Maine State Summer Games. Competitors ages 7 to 70 took part in track and field, bocce and other events, while standout athlete Jaron Baude earned a trip to the Special Olympics USA Games later this month. (NCM)
3. One Augusta sheep went on a little adventure this weekend. Police responded to reports of a loose sheep wandering near Cony and Stone streets before tracking down the owner and safely reuniting the runaway farm animal with its flock. (WGME)
4. Enjoy it while it lasts. After a sunny and comfortable Monday with temperatures in the 70s and 80s statewide, Maine is heading into a much warmer and more humid stretch. Temperatures could climb into the upper 80s and low 90s inland later this week. Afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop beginning Wednesday and could continue through the end of the week, with another chance for unsettled weather heading into the weekend. 5. Maine native and NASA astronaut Jessica Meir is giving Earth a stunning view from space. Meir shared a photo of a colorful aurora from the International Space Station this week, showing off one of the perks of her current mission as commander of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-12. Despite recently dealing with a leak aboard the station, Meir says everyone is safe and enjoying the incredible views. The Crew-12 mission has now spent 115 days in orbit. (WGME)
