2. The Trump administration has now formally found Maine in violation of Title IX, which ensures equal access in education and sports. The federal probe began last month after a viral dispute over a trans athlete. DHHS has now referred the case to the Justice Department. (WGME)
3. Canadian tourists make up 30 to 40 percent of revenue for Old Orchard Beach. On Tuesday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said “Canadians are angry” over President Donald Trump’s 25 percent tariffs on Canadian imports. “We’re going to choose to not go on vacation in Florida or Old Orchard Beach.” The impact is already being felt. Several Inns have reported cancellations and reduced reservations. (NCM)
4. Spring is warming nationwide, including in Maine. Portland saw an average temperature increase of 2.2 degrees since 1970. More unusually warm spring days are on the way, similar to temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday throughout the state. Portland has seen an increase of 14 extra days in temperatures above normal for this time of year. (WGME)
5. Payton Pritchard and Derrick White made history in the Celtics’ win over the Blazers. Pritchard scored 43 points with 10 threes, while White added 41 with nine.
