1. Kyle Cassell of Westbrook is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from police in Scarborough around 11:15 am yesterday. An emergency hold-in-place order was initiated at Eight Corners elementary school. Cassell’s vehicle was found abandoned in a business parking lot on Payne Road. Around 3:10pm police found Cassell walking on Gorham Road. He ran into the woods and was later found hiding there. (WGME)

3. It’s official: potatoes are a vegetable and not a grain. Senator Susan Collins says she received a letter from the USDA and Department of Health and Human Services, confirming the news. The National Potato Council feared the government would reclassify potatoes as grains as part of its new dietary guidelines, which would restrict their use in school lunches. (WGME)
4. Maine’s newest Barnes & Noble is set to open in South Portland on Wednesday. The bookstore is located in the former Bed Bath & Beyond building at Maine Crossing near Target. (WGME)
5. Twix fans are upset after discovering the chocolate bars have shrunk. Mars’ 2022 announcement said that it would be reducing the size of Twix bars in multipacks from 23g to 20g – a cut of roughly 15%. A Mars spokesperson said at the time that the company had been “absorbing the rising costs of raw materials and operations for some time”. (Express)
