1. Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election with 277 electoral votes over Kamala Harris’ 224. He is the second president to serve a non-consecutive second term. Republicans have gained control of the Senate, flipping seats in West Virginia and Ohio. (NBC)
2. Congresswoman Chellie Pingree won her re-election bid in Maine’s First District early Wednesday morning. The race to represent Maine’s Second Congressional District is still too close to call on Wednesday morning. Jared Golden has a slight lead over Republican challenger Austin Theriault. Senator Angus King is leading Maine’s Senate race. (WGME)
3. A proposal to redesign Maine’s flag state flag appeared to be in trouble Tuesday night, although most communities had yet to report vote totals. Nearly 56% of voters, were opposed to the redesign with 30% of the votes counted at midnight. (PH)
4. Portland residents voted to re-evaluate the city’s hazard pay. Voters decided to change the conditions under which Portland workers receive a pay increase during a state of emergency. Portland voters also passed an initiative that approves new rules for short-term rentals, including a change to registration requirements. (WGME)
