1. Governor Janet Mills is reminding voters that she remains on Maine’s Democratic Senate primary ballot, saying, “People have the impression that I withdrew or dropped out, but I simply suspended active campaigning. I am still on the ballot.” The comment comes as presumed Democratic nominee Graham Platner faces renewed scrutiny over reports of post-marital sexting, along with past controversies involving Reddit posts and a tattoo he later covered up. 2. Time is running out for Mainers to vote absentee ahead of the June 9 primary. More than 34,000 absentee ballots have already been returned, while another 29,000 have been issued but not yet received. 3. Four Maine companies made Forbes’ list of America’s Best Employers for Company Culture. Portland-based WEX ranked highest at number 78 nationally, followed by The Jackson Laboratory, IDEXX Laboratories, and L.L.Bean. The rankings are based on surveys of more than 217,000 U.S. employees. (WMTW)
4. South Portland’s Mall Plaza could look very different in a few years. A $13 million project would replace part of the shopping center next to the Maine Mall with two new hotels, requiring the demolition of several businesses including Mister Bagel, Petco, and Hunt’s Photo. City officials say the project could be completed within three years and would bring the total number of hotels near the Maine Mall to 17. (WGME)
5. A Saco teacher has set another Guinness World Record. Ryan “Dr. Buckets” Martin made 11,115 NBA three-pointers in 24 hours, breaking the previous mark by 412 shots while averaging one made three-pointer every seven seconds. Martin now holds Guinness records for most NBA three-pointers made in 24 hours, most NBA three-pointers made in one hour, most NBA half-court shots made in one hour, and most free throws made in one hour.
