Pride Portland is gearing up for one of the biggest celebrations of the summer, and Board Chair Tanner Skilton joined me in studio to share what attendees can expect at this year’s parade and festival on June 20th!
The day begins with the Pride Portland Parade at 11:30am, stepping off from Monument Square and making its way to Deering Oaks Park. Once the parade concludes, the festival will take over the park from 12pm-5pm, featuring local artists, community organizations, vendors, food trucks, a beer garden, and support from local and corporate partners, including Hannaford and L.L. Bean.
To help make the event accessible to everyone, Greater Portland Metro will offer free bus rides throughout the day on June 20th!
During our chat, Tanner also spoke about his personal connection to Pride and why the event remains so important. He shared that Pride is about celebrating the LGBTQ+ community while helping create a future where young people in Maine can see themselves represented, supported, and welcomed.
