“Can somebody sue me already #I’llwait.”
Be careful what you wish for Yeezus, your judgment day might be coming soon.
Since the release of Kanye West’s new music video for “Famous”, there has been a lot of negative feedback. In his video he is in a large bed with wax look alikes of naked celebrities and political figures.
The wax look alikes in this “masterpiece” were of Rihanna, Chris Brown, Anna Wintour, Donald Trump, George W. Bush, Caitlyn Jenner, Bill Cosby, Taylor Swift, Amber Rose, Ray J, and of course his lovely
booty-full wife Kim Kardashian. Clearly this doesn’t help the beef between T-Swifty and West. A source says she is “Livid and horrified…and is beyond frustrated with Kayne.”
But what exactly can Kayne be sued for?
– Copyright Infringement; If Mr. West used an existing photo or another image to create the wax figures (in which he did), and if the person holds copyright to that image, he could face chargesfor all of them.
– Defamation; Since the wax figures are nude, Kanye could be charged for the provocative nature which could cause damage to the celebrity’s image.
– Right to Publicity; It is under California law that “any person who knowingly uses another’s likeness, in any manner for the purpose of advertising [ and many more] without such person’s prior consent shall be liable for any damages sustained.”
But hey, Kayne says “It’s not in support or anti any of [the people in the video]” and even thanks them“for being famous” So that’s okay right??…
