2. A cosmic combo was visible in the sky this morning. It was a super moon, a blue moon, and a lunar eclipse all in one. It’s so rare it hasn’t been seen in North America in more than 150 years. A super moon appears when the moon is at its closest point to the earth. A blue moon is a second full moon in a calendar month. A lunar eclipse is when the earth passes between the sun and the moon, completely blocking the sun’s light and casting a shadow on the moon. Only about 16 to 17 percent of the moon will be covered by the earth’s shadow in Maine. (WGME)
