1. The U.S. tops 5.7 million coronavirus cases with over 176,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported 1 new death and 18 new cases on Sunday. Maine’s death toll is 131 w/ 470 active cases.
2. A woman who was associated with a wedding at the Big Moose Inn in Millinocket that was at the center of a coronavirus outbreak has died. According to the Maine CDC the gathering has now been linked to 53 confirmed coronavirus cases.
3. Officials at the University of Maine System are warning students not to host large parties or gatherings this fall. Any student who hosts or promotes prohibited events at any venue, including an off-campus house or apartment, could be suspended or dismissed from the school, according to new rules posted on Friday. The fall semester at all seven campuses begins on Aug. 31.
4. Striking workers at Bath Iron Works have approved a three-year contract after a 63-day strike. The 4,300 shipbuilders Machinists Union Local S6 represents will begin returning to work Monday.
5. The Boston Celtics swept the Philadelphia 76ers with a 110-106 win Sunday. The Celtics will now square off in Round 2 against The Raptors starting Thursday.
