1. The FBI stopped a plot to kidnap Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer. 13 people linked to the domestic terrorist group “Wolverine Watchmen” were charged on Thursday. The plan was to overthrow state governments that the men believed were “violating the US Constitution.” The FBI sent in an undercover agent earlier this year to get the details and evidence on the plot. 2. The U.S. tops 7.6 million Coronavirus cases w/ over 212,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported no new deaths and 35 additional cases on Thursday. The statewide death toll remains 142 w/ 597 active cases. (WMTW)
3. The Maine CDC is warning that people who attended several recent hockey games might have been exposed to COVID-19. A hockey referee tested positive for coronavirus refereeing eight games at several locations on Oct. 3 and 4. People who were on the ice at any of those times should consider themselves a close contact of the referee and quarantine for 14 days from exposure. (WMTW)
4. As of today, adults 21 and older can buy recreational marijuana in Maine. It comes nearly four years after Mainers voted to legalize it. Adults 21-years-old and up with a valid ID will be able to buy up to 2.5 ounces of a combination of marijuana and marijuana concentrate that includes no more than five grams of marijuana concentrate. 5. This weekend’s Patriots game against the Denver Broncos has been postponed from Sunday to Monday night. This is the second straight week the league has moved a Patriots game because of a positive COVID-19 test. Cornerback Stephon Gilmore tested positive late Tuesday night. (WGME)
