1. Former reality TV show host Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden faced off Thursday night in Nashville, Tennessee, for the second and last presidential debate. Trump says the coronavirus is ‘going away’ and a vaccine will be ready in weeks, Biden says, ‘Anyone who is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president.’
2.The U.S. tops 8.4 million Coronavirus cases w/ over 223,000 related deaths. The Maine CDC reported no new deaths and 37 additional cases on Thursday. The statewide death toll is 146 w/ 659 active cases.
3. Residents of Featherman Hall on the UNE Biddeford campus are locked down until at least Tuesday after three students from that dorm tested positive for COVID-19. Classes for those students will be remote and food will be delivered to them.
4. New data released Thursday shows Maine real estate sales are on a record pace this year. Home sales jumped nearly 23 percent in September, compared to the same month in 2019. And prices are up, too. Out-of-state buyers purchased 736 homes this September, compared to 445 last September.
5. Lewiston Public works crews are installing 12 mailbox mask dispensers throughout the city. The mailboxes will be filled with individually wrapped masks and will be available for free.
