1. The U.S. tops 10.5 million Covid-19 cases with over 242,000 deaths. The Maine CDC reported 1 new death and 193 new cases on Thursday. Maine’s death toll is 159 with 1,944 active cases.
2. A new wave of people in former reality TV show host Donald Trump’s camp — including longtime adviser Corey Lewandowski and Republican lobbyist Jeff Miller — have tested positive for the coronavirus after attending an election night party at the White House. It was previously reported that a number of others who attended the event — Ben Carson, chief of staff Mark Meadows and Trump campaign adviser David Bossie — also contracted the virus. About 200 people attended the party, mingling in close quarters largely without masks.
3. The Maine CDC has issued a “Do Not Drink” order for Maine Water Company customers in Skowhegan. Maine CDC says customers should not use the water for drinking, making ice cubes, food preparation, brushing their teeth or any that would involve consuming water.
4. Democrat Ryan Fecteau is set to become the next Speaker of the House in the Maine Legislature after receiving his party’s nomination on Thursday. Fecteau, 28, is in his fourth and final term in the House due to term limits. He will succeed Sara Gideon, who was term limited and is leaving the Legislature after losing her U.S. Senate run to Sen. Susan Collins.
5. Ten Walgreens will offer free rapid COVID-19 testing to people with symptoms beginning Friday. Eventually, 65 Walgreens locations across Maine will offer the testing. All sites should be up and running by Nov. 23, according to the state.
