1. Gov. Janet Mills announced Wednesday that effective immediately that all Maine adults are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster. On Wednesday, the state reported the highest number of new daily cases of the pandemic and hospitalizations remain at a record high. (WMTW)
2. There is a critical shortage of substitute teachers in Maine. At Windham-Raymond schools, everyone from secretaries, edtechs and even the superintendent himself are all pitching in to teach classes when a teacher is out. Superintendents say people interested in becoming a substitute teacher should give them a call. (WGME)
3. The Public Utilities Commission approved an 83% supply rate hike for roughly 80% of the state served by Central Maine Power. Residential customers will see their average electricity bill raised by $30 a month. (WMTW)
4. Ski season is underway in Maine, thanks to some recent natural snow and cold temperatures that have allowed ski areas to make snow. Sunday River opened Thursday morning. Sugarloaf plans to open for the season on Monday, Nov. 22. Saddleback Mountain is targeting Tuesday, Nov. 23 for opening day. (WMTW)
5. After a year away due to the pandemic, Christmas Prelude is set to return for its 40th year in Kennebunkport. In a typical year, Dock Square would be blocked off with 5,000-10,000 people waiting for the Christmas tree lighting. The Christmas Prelude starts December 2. (WGME)
