1. A total of 205 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Maine on Sunday. Portland Public Schools is now recommending – but not mandating – mask wearing. In Bangor, mask wearing will be mandated in all city buildings, including public schools.
2. Two people died Sunday morning after they were hit by an Amtrak train in Biddeford. The 81 passengers aboard had to wait for nearly two hours before buses transported them to Portland.
3. More than 200 streetlights are in need of repair in the city of Portland, and officials are blaming a staffing shortage, supply chain issues and faulty parts. The city has only one qualified person to maintain the streetlight system.
4. Graduation Season! The University of Maine celebrated 1,680 undergraduate students in two ceremonies Saturday. This was the first full, in-person graduation ceremony the university has held since 2019.
