- 45-year-old Christopher Maurer, formerly of Biddeford was arrested yesterday in Westbrook for allegedly taking part in the January 6 Capitol attack. Maurer was identified as an individual who swung a large pole at police officers. (WGME)
- Portland has hired its first director of racial equity, Umaru Balde. He speaks numerous languages and has held civil rights posts in Iowa. Balde will promote equity and inclusion in city work and work to ensure compliance with civil rights laws. (PH)
