2. Windham Police responded to a disturbance involving gunshots at Binga’s Windham on Friday night. Two male subjects were involved in a physical altercation, and one of them fired a handgun at the other’s truck. The investigation is ongoing. (WGME)
3. Portland restaurant Papi imported antique doors from Puerto Rico but was ordered to take them down by the city because they didn’t honor the building’s history. The doors were deemed to create a “false sense of history.” A request was filed after someone who works in the historic preservation office walked by and noticed. (PH)
4. Beyond has filed for bankruptcy. All of its 360 stores will close. “Thank you to all of our loyal customers. We have made the difficult decision to begin winding down our operations,” the company said in a statement on its website. (JN)
5. Kevin Fahrman, of Falmouth, passed away on Thursday, and his family has revealed that he was the Valentine’s Day Bandit of Portland. Fahrman’s colleague began the heart tradition in 1976, and Kevin took over in 1979. His basement is still filled with the red hearts, and neighbors on Route 88 in Falmouth lined the street with them in his honor. Fahrman was a photographer and taught at SMCC. (MP)
